Onboarding — set up your first agent
When you sign in for the first time with no agents and no platforms, AgentValet replaces the dashboard’s overview page with a short setup guide (also at /setup, linked as Setup guide in the sidebar). It exists to get you to “first action through AgentValet” in under five minutes, no docs required.
You can skip it at any point — the rest of the dashboard is right behind it.
What the guide walks you through
Three steps, each with a button that takes you to the right page:
- Connect a platform — opens the platform catalog so you can connect a low-stakes Slack/Notion/Gmail to test against. See Connect a platform.
- Register your first agent — opens Agents, where you register one from the dashboard or follow Register an agent (CLI) / Register an agent (MCPB).
- Set approval rules — opens your first agent so you can grant it platforms and choose which actions need your sign-off.
Steps tick themselves off as you connect a platform and register an agent. Once you have a teammate or two, policies and guardrails are the next place to look.
Skipping or coming back
Click I’ll set this up later to dismiss the guide and drop onto the normal dashboard. Onboarding state is persisted on your owner record, so once you’ve dismissed or finished it, the overview page doesn’t show it again. The guide only takes over the overview while you have no agents and no platforms.
If you want to revisit a piece of it later, the individual how-tos linked above cover the same ground.
The plan picker
On the Free plan, before you see the app for the first time, a full-screen plan picker offers the Studio plan (with a 30-day money-back guarantee) or Continue with Free. Choosing Studio goes to Stripe Checkout; choosing Free is remembered, so the picker doesn’t come back. There’s no timed re-prompt. You can change plans any time from Billing.
