Understand overage charges

Every paid plan has a monthly allowance of governed actions (5,000 for Solo, 10,000 for Studio, 40,000 for Team). When you exceed it, your agents keep working — but each action past the allowance is billed at the overage rate.

Overage rates by plan

PlanPer-call overage
Solo$0.04
Studio$0.03
Team$0.02
EnterpriseCustom

You can see the rate and your current overage on /billing under Monthly API calls: “{N} overage calls at US${rate}/call — estimated US${amount} added to next invoice”. The estimate is your overage count this cycle × your plan’s rate. Only calls that actually executed count; denied, queued and failed calls don’t.

The Free plan is different

Free has no overage — but hitting the 300-action ceiling does not stop your agents. They keep running; what pauses is growth, so registering a new agent or connecting a new platform returns a 402 until the next calendar month. Upgrade to lift the ceiling and allow overage.

Warnings before you cross over

The dashboard escalates as you approach the cap:

ThresholdWhat happens
75%Email + amber banner on /billing
90%Email + red banner on /billing
100%Email + red overage banner on /billing with a running estimate

Each email is sent once per cycle. The warnings reset when your next invoice is paid. Dismissing a banner hides it until you next load the page.

How it ends up on your invoice

A nightly job reports your overage count to Stripe’s metered billing, and it appears as a line item on your next invoice. Your overage counter resets when that invoice is paid. You’ll see:

{Plan} $XX.XX Overage — {N} calls @ $X.XX $YY.YY ───────────────────────────────────── Total $ZZ.ZZ

You can review the Stripe invoice directly via the Manage billing → button on /billing.

How to keep overage low

A few things that reduce wasted calls:

  • Cache aggressive on read scopes. If an agent fetches the same data repeatedly, cache it.
  • Suspend idle agents. A suspended agent can’t call anything, so it can’t generate overage. (Agents themselves are unlimited on every plan.)
  • Look at the agents driving the most calls. Filter /audit by date and group mentally by agent. Often one agent is responsible for the bulk.
  • Anomaly detection (Team+) catches runaway agents that suddenly start making thousands of calls — /anomalies shows you what to suspend before the bill arrives.

When upgrading is cheaper

If you’re consistently above your plan’s allowance each month, the next tier up is cheaper than the overage. Solo at $99/mo + $0.04 × 7,500 overage (12,500 actions in the month) = $399, which is Studio’s price with 10,000 actions included; Studio at $399/mo + $0.03 × 10,000 overage (20,000 actions) = $699, which is Team’s price with 40,000 included. Run the numbers on /billing.
